The Rev. Lainie Allen

Rector

In 2024, Mother Lainie joined us from Oregon, where she served as Rector of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church and as a University Chaplain. Ordained in the Diocese of Texas, this Arizona native brings two decades of ministry across the country, with degrees from Point Loma and SMU and specialized training in Spiritual Direction and Faith Formation.

She is passionate about contemplative practices and helping others discover God’s love, shaped by her work as a Board Certified Chaplain in hospice, hospital, and university settings.

Lainie+ and her husband, Daniel, have been married 43 years and have two daughters, a son-in-law, and three grandsons in Portland. She restores her soul through hiking, biking, music, films, books, and good wine. Her next adventure might even be Flamenco dancing.

The Rev. William “Bill” Forrest

Associate Rector

Father Bill grew up near Chicago before earning his degree from Church Divinity School of the Pacific in 1972. Ordained as a priest in 1973, his ministry has taken him to parishes in Arizona, Wyoming, Minnesota, and Wisconsin before retiring in 2005.

In his free time, he enjoys playing folk music on his guitar. His wife, Julia, worked for the Diocese of Arizona from 1992 to 2005. Together they have four children and five grandchildren.

Mother Deby Adinolfi

Affiliate Priest

Deby's faith is rooted in the Order of Julian of Norwich and Celtic spirituality. Currently affiliated with St. Alban's, she previously served as Assistant Rector in Phoenix and as Rector near Atlanta.

She uniquely combines her priestly ministry and paralegal skills as a Tribal Liaison for Wireless Policy Group, bridging corporate America and Native American tribes.

A Cambridge graduate, Deby enjoys photography, knitting, baking, and outdoor activities as a way to appreciate God's creation.

The Rev. Glenda Empsall

Deacon

Ordained as a Deacon in 2014, Glenda serves at St. Luke's in Coeur d'Alene, ID, and is licensed in the Diocese of AZ. She's delighted to join St. Alban's worship team.

A geologist by training (University of AZ), she met her husband, John, in the field. They split their time between Idaho and Tucson and have two sons, two daughters-in-law, three grandchildren, and furry grand-pets.

After 46+ years and various careers, Glenda cherishes two titles most: Deacon and Nana.

Actively serving annually from November to April.

The Rev. David Powell

Deacon

Newly ordained in the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona, David serves as Deacon at St. Alban's. His ministry is guided by his baptismal vows and Matthew 20:28: "The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve," committing his gifts to Christ and the world.

David centers his work on the Eucharist while extending pastoral care through hospital and hospice visits, companionship, healthcare advocacy, and bringing Christ's presence to those in need.

His approach follows the shape of the CROSS: growing UPWARD in worship, forming INWARD in faith, and moving OUTWARD in service—embodying Christ's mission through the Gospel.

David looks forward to connecting as we journey together toward eternity with God.

Ordained in 2013, he chaired Virginia's Episcopal Disaster Response Team and served at Goodwin House. Dan and Mary approach their 44th anniversary and have three grown children.

He enjoys reading, conversation, air shows, and aircraft art while maintaining a deep devotion to family and faith.

Parish Leadership

Each parish in the Arizona Diocese is led by both clergy and a vestry of elected lay members. The rector serves as the spiritual leader while reporting to both the vestry and the diocese. The rector and vestry collaborate to guide the church's mission, manage its resources, and nurture its community.
